Men and Masculinity
What does it mean to be a man in a world where traditional social and gender roles are rapidly changing?
Social, economic and cultural pressures can have a profound impact on men's wellbeing. Contemporary discussions about masculinity are often polarising, leaving many men feeling misunderstood, marginalised or misrepresented. This can create a reluctance to seek support, often at times of crisis. Many men also live with an acquired and often unconscious sense of shame, believing themselves inadequate for failing to meet their own and others' expectations.
I offer a thoughtful and non-judgemental space in which men can explore masculinity, identity and belonging. Together, we can develop ways of being that feel authentic, grounded and connected, allowing your masculinity to be expressed with confidence and received positively within your personal, social and professional relationships.

Life Stage Transitions
As we journey through life; developmentally we traverse life stages that bring their own unique challenges and opportunities. Our first job, a career change, partnering, parenting (or not), and retirement; are examples of circumstances that reside within a wider context of psycho-social transitions. I offer counselling support to help you reflect and make the most your changing world.

'Only-ness' : Only Child Experience
Over several years of therapeutic practice, I have developed a particular interest in the experience of being an only child. While every person's story is unique, growing up without siblings can shape how we experience identity, autonomy, belonging, relationships and connection.
Drawing on well-established research and clinical experience, I support both parents of only children and adults (18+) who wish to explore how their experience of "only-ness" may continue to influence their lives and relationships.

Cross Cultural Issues
In our interconnected world people from diverse cultures meet, mix and integrate; but not always easily. How might differences in cultural experience enrich rather than impoverish your internationally orientated relationships? I offer counselling support to those who are struggling in a relationship or in an environment, where differences in culture might subtly or significantly influence how you feel as a person.

Work Related Issues
The word ‘work’ is often synonymous with ‘stress’. Having spent a considerable amount of my working life in business, I am well acquainted with many of the pressures and anxieties that burden people in the workplace. These might include the often unseen or ‘invisible’ responsibilities of owning or running a business. I offer support to individuals struggling with the competing pressures of workplace ‘performance’ whilst also remaining fully available and present for a life outside work. I also provide help for people enmeshed in difficult inter personal relationships at work, which if left unresolved, sap our reserves emotional energy.

Military and Veterans Experience
Serving in a military organisation demands conformity, discipline and sacrifice — for some, the ultimate sacrifice. Military service is all-consuming, providing identity, belonging and purpose.
At a personal level, there a life both within and beyond the military. When this is neglected, the transition to civilian life can be challenging and unsettling.
I work with veterans and serving personnel on a wide range of issues shaped by military service and have also supported those affected by Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD) through my work with the veterans' charity Walking With The Wounded.
